Top TV Network Names Montana’s ‘Most Charming Small Town’

The network responsible for our favorite real estate and home renovation shows, like “House Hunters,” “Love It or List It,” and the “Property Brothers,” has recently crowned the most charming small town in Montana. Although Montana is often labeled as rustic and scenic, the state’s charm, defined as something “pleasant or attractive,” has been steadily gaining recognition.

While several Montana towns come to mind for this honor—such as Bigfork, Anaconda, and Lewistown—HGTV’s selection makes a lot of sense. Whitefish has earned the title of Montana’s “most charming small town.” This town perfectly encapsulates various elements that make Montana beloved: incredible outdoor access, a tight-knit community feel, and even a restaurant praised for having the best breakfast in the state.

According to Peter Christian, HGTV has highlighted Whitefish not just for its natural beauty and close proximity to Glacier National Park but also because National Geographic once named it one of the “Top 25 Ski Towns in the World.” However, for many, the charming vibe of Whitefish is cemented by its picturesque train station, which adds a quaint, old-world touch to the town.

HGTV also recognized Wallace, Idaho, as one of America’s most charming small towns, a selection that’s also highly commendable. The town offers fantastic bike trails and a comforting small-town atmosphere. Personally, I have fond memories of the unbeatable bacon and cheddar omelets I had there during road trips.

If you’re more into scenes less polished and more authentic, Montana’s dive bars offer a unique look into the state’s character. These local spots, both in big cities and smaller towns, provide a glimpse into Montana’s everyday life, atmosphere, and people.

One doesn’t have to look far to find charm in Montana. Whether it’s in the ski slopes of Whitefish, the bike trails of Wallace, or the welcoming dive bars scattered across the state, Montana proves again and again why it’s a captivating place filled with hidden treasures waiting to be explored.
