Total Emmy Nominations for The Bear in 2024?

FX’s “The Bear” has just made history at the 76th Emmy Awards. The show, which recently released its third season and has already been renewed for a fourth, garnered a staggering 23 nominations. This is the highest number of nominations ever received by a comedy series in a single season.

“The Bear” chronicles the life of the staff at the sandwich shop, Original Beef of Chicagoland. The story centers around Carmy Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White), a promising young chef who is compelled to return home due to a family tragedy. He finds himself juggling his dream of running a Michelin-starred restaurant with managing a small but bustling kitchen.

In his journey, Carmy meets Sydney (Ayo Edebiri), another young chef with whom he shares a kindred spirit. Together, they strive to bring order and harmony to their obstinate and strong-willed kitchen staff. The critically acclaimed season, which was released just last month, is said to be inspired by the early career of legendary Michelin-starred chef Marco Pierre White, the first British chef to earn three Michelin stars at the age of 33.

The upcoming Emmy Awards ceremony, scheduled for September 15, will see “The Bear” competing in 14 categories. This is not the first time the show has received such acclaim. Last season, it took home multiple awards, raising expectations for a repeat performance this year.

“The Bear” is again in the running for Outstanding Comedy Series, a category it won in 2023. Additionally, the show received two nominations for Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series. Christopher Storer, who secured a win in this category last year, is nominated alongside Ramy Youssef. In the writing category, Christopher Storer and Joanna Calo have earned the show two nominations for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series. Last year, Christopher Storer took home this award.

The show’s impressive cast is also receiving recognition. Jeremy Allen White, who portrays Carmen “Carmy” Barzatto, has earned a nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, an award he won in 2023. Ayo Edebiri, who played Sydney Adamu, is nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. Last year, she was nominated in the supporting category and clinched the win.

The supporting and guest stars of “The Bear” have also been acknowledged. Ebon Moss-Bachrach, who plays Richard “Richie” Jerimovich, is once again nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series, an award he won last year. Lionel Boyce, who plays Marcus, also received a nomination in this category. Liza Colón-Zayas, who portrays Tina Marrero, has earned a nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.

The show’s guest stars are in the spotlight as well. Jon Bernthal, who plays Michael Berzatto, and Oliver Platt, who portrays Uncle Jimmy, are nominated for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series, alongside Bob Odenkirk (Uncle Lee) and Will Poulter (Chef Luca). For Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series, nominations went to Olivia Colman (Chef Terry) and Jamie Lee Curtis (Donna Berzatto).

“The Bear” has also been recognized in technical categories. The series received a nomination for Outstanding Production Design for a Narrative Program (Half-Hour), similar to last year. It is also up for Outstanding Cinematography for a Single-Camera Series (Half-Hour), an award it won in 2023. Moreover, the show has been nominated for Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Comedy or Drama Series (Half-Hour) and Animation, and Outstanding Sound Editing for a Comedy or Drama Series (Half-Hour) and Animation, both of which it won last year.

Fans can catch all three seasons of “The Bear” on Hulu in the US and on Disney+ in other territories.
