“Tracy Beaker Star to Marry Superfan Who Was Her ‘Childhood Crush’”

Tracy Beaker star Chris Slater is engaged to a superfan, with their wedding planned for 2026.

Slater, known for his role as Frank Matthews in the popular BBC series that showcases the lives of children in foster care, has won a lot of hearts. He continued his role in the spin-off show The Dumping Ground. Both shows are based on the best-selling books by Jacqueline Wilson.

Announcing their engagement, the 29-year-old’s fiancée, Sam Wilson, shared the happy news on TikTok. She posted a heartwarming montage featuring pictures from Slater’s time on the series and snapshots of them as adults.

“He isn’t my childhood crush anymore… He’s my fiancé,” she captioned the video.

Fans were thrilled and quickly took to the comments to share their encouragement and memories.

“Please that’s legit the same guy,” one fan noted, using laughing emojis to suggest Slater hadn’t changed much since the show ended six years ago.

“Hunny, I don’t know how to tell you this… that’s the whole point he’s an actor,” Wilson responded with a bit of humor.

Another commenter shared a personal story: “He did a workshop at my uni a couple years ago and he was such a genuinely lovely guy, congrats to you both.”

“Omg this is awesome, imagine having a celeb crush for them to actually be your partner! Amazing – you both look so happy,” read another enthusiastic comment.

One fan tagged another, stating that Wilson was “living your dream.”

Another well-wisher celebrated: “You both look so happy together! Beautiful couple! congratulations.”

Much like his character Frank Matthews, Slater lives with cerebral palsy. He was discovered while participating in a local theater play.

“They asked me to audition after contacting my school to find out who I was and I got the part after two auditions,” he told the BBC at the time.

Interestingly, a career in TV was never Slater’s initial plan. He had intentions of entering the fitness industry.

“I wanted to do some form of coaching within a physical education setting. Acting was just a hobby and the play where I was spotted was a last-minute decision to take part in,” Slater commented.

The impact of the show, which was praised for addressing tough subjects for young audiences in a compelling manner, was evident to him.

“It really is quite rewarding that the issues tackled are what kids could be going through and knowing we could be helping them with their problems,” Slater said at the time.

He also had high praise for his co-star, Dani Harmer, who plays the titular character. He described her as “probably the nicest, most loyal friend to ever have on the acting set and she was an excellent mentor to myself and others.”

Harmer continued her role in the series My Mum Tracy Beaker in 2021, portraying Tracy as a mother with her own daughter.
