Trader Joe’s Unveils New Belgian Dessert That TikTok Is Obsessed With

Ever since the invention of donuts, there’s always been a fine line between what counts as dessert and what counts as breakfast. Sure, a chocolate croissant is totally acceptable in the morning, but chocolate cake will get you a side-eye. (To be fair, we will always advocate for a little self-care sweetness!) But it’s not often the other way around…until now. TikTok is obsessed with a new Trader Joe’s dessert that is a new twist on Belgian waffles — and, wow, we can’t wait to try these!

Shoppers have been talking about the new Brioche Style Liège Waffles with Pearl Sugar from Trader Joe’s. These are based on the famous street waffles from Liège, Belgium, featuring a brioche consistency and sticky sugar that is so good, they don’t need syrup.

“Whatever you do, do not buy these from Trader Joe’s. Especially if you have an addictive personality,” TikToker @TaysTasings said in a recent video. They wrote on top of the clip: “I have to get rid of them immediately.”

People who don’t mind trying out addictively delicious new snacks weren’t deterred by her warning. One person wrote, “Oh so buy two bags when I go. Got it. Thank you lol.” Someone else wrote, “About to buy 10, thanks!!”

A TikToker named Liz (@onemorehour617) did an unboxing-style video of these Trader Joe’s waffles, and they look fabulous. When she opened the bag, she revealed that each waffle was individually wrapped to keep them fresh for longer. After taking a bite, Liz described this sweet treat.

“The sugar goes all throughout, so it’s like crunchy, but also soft because of the brioche, and sweet but it’s not too sweet,” she explains, giving them a rating of 9.7 out of 10.

You can eat these waffles straight from the bag or warm them up in a toaster oven. They would also be good topped with fruit, peanut butter, or whipped cream for extra yumminess. No matter how you eat them, you’re definitely in for a treat!
