Trailer Released for Aaron Hernandez TV Series

The long-awaited trailer for FX’s “American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez” has officially been released.

The 10-episode limited series, executive produced by Ryan Murphy (known for “The People vs. O.J. Simpson,” “American Horror Story,” “Glee”), will premiere its first two episodes on Sept. 17.

The show delves into the life of former Florida Gators and New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez, exploring his crimes, conviction, and eventual death.

“You don’t know what kind of thoughts I have,” says Hernandez (played by Josh Rivera) at the start of the trailer. “It’s like a demon. What if god made me this way?”

The trailer then visually narrates his journey from a high school football star to a Florida Gators phenom and then to a New England Patriots tight end. Various scenes depict the pressure from his fame and lifestyle, highlighting how he felt safe only on the football field.

“Everything’s okay when I’m playing ball,” Hernandez says in one poignant moment.

In reality, Hernandez won a national title with Florida and played in a Super Bowl with the Patriots. However, his NFL career came to a halt when he was arrested and charged with the murder of Odin Lloyd. Convicted of first-degree murder, he was sentenced to life in prison. In 2017, following his acquittal in a separate double homicide case, Hernandez was found dead in his cell. His death was ruled a suicide.

The cast also includes Patrick Schwarzenegger as Tim Tebow, Tammy Blanchard as Terri Hernandez, and Lindsay Mendez as Tanya Singleton. Furthermore, various notable NFL and college football figures such as Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski, Robert Kraft, and Urban Meyer will be portrayed in the series.

The series is inspired by the “Gladiator: Aaron Hernandez and Football Inc.” podcast from the Boston Globe and Wondery.
