At 36 years old, Williams has been a pivotal player for the 49ers, starting in 58 games over the last four seasons. He first entered the league as the fourth overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, selected by Washington.

Last season, Williams achieved the second-best offensive rating among tackles, as reported by Pro Football Focus, with only Penei Sewell of the Detroit Lions ranking higher. His performance has been consistently outstanding, as he was recognized as the top tackle in both 2022, 2021, and 2020.

Williams initially signed a six-year, $138 million contract extension with the 49ers back in 2021. This monumental contract included a substantial signing bonus of $30.1 million along with over $55 million in guaranteed money.

However, Williams will face a penalty of more than $5.3 million due to his absence from training camp and the team’s three preseason games as a result of the holdout.

The 49ers are set to kick off their season with a home game against the New York Jets, scheduled to take place at 8:15 p.m. EDT on Monday in Santa Clara, California.
