ABC’s police procedural drama, The Rookie, is preparing to say goodbye to a series regular. Tru Valentino, who has been portraying Sergeant Aaron Thorsen, is confirmed to be leaving the show. The 35-year-old actor joined the Nathan Fillion-led series in season four and gained a full-time spot due to his character’s popularity. Unfortunately, Valentino is set to exit The Rookie before the premiere of Season 7.

Valentino will not return for The Rookie’s seventh season, although the reason behind his departure remains unknown. This news was recently confirmed by TVLine, following rumors that began circulating last month. The actor’s absence at the show’s San Diego Comic-Con panel in July 2024 intensified speculation among fans about his potential exit.

Valentino first appeared in the series in 2021 as Aaron Thorsen in a recurring role. Thorsen was introduced as the son of a famous rapper, with a massive TikTok following due to his extravagant lifestyle. The character found himself embroiled in legal troubles after the mysterious death of a friend. However, Thorsen was cleared of all charges and eventually joined forces with the Los Angeles Police Department. His character became a series regular in seasons five and six.

Despite Valentino’s departure, The Rookie will continue to have a lineup of officers in its seventh season. Two new characters are set to join the cast. Deric Augustine will play Miles, a veteran cop from Texas who joins the LAPD as a rookie. Meanwhile, Patrick Keleher has been cast as Seth, an exemplary officer who faces challenges in making quick and decisive actions.

The Rookie Season 7 is anticipated to be released in 2025, though ABC has not yet announced an official release date.
