True-Crime Series ‘Cabin In The Woods,’ ‘Murders on Elm Street,’ ‘How (Not) To Get Rid Of A Body’ Set at Investigation Discovery

EXCLUSIVE: Investigation Discovery is gearing up for an influx of new true-crime docuseries.

The network, known for its gripping content like “Quiet On Set,” has announced its September lineup of true-crime series. The lineup includes: How (Not) To Get Rid of a Body, The Real Murders on Elm Street, and Cabin in the Woods.

This move comes after the Warner Bros. Discovery network recently premiered Michael Bay’s series Born Evil: The Serial Killer and the Savior, and renewed Octavia Spencer’s series Lost Women and Feds.

How (Not) To Get Rid of a Body, premiering on September 4, delves into the extreme measures criminals take to evade capture. Each episode features never-before-seen footage and thrilling stories of criminal masterminds attempting to cover up their crimes. Nevertheless, law enforcement’s top detectives remain determined to solve these cases and bring justice.

The production is handled by Blackfin, a part of Lionsgate Alternative Television, known for its work on Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez.

The Real Murders on Elm Street debuts on September 9. This six-part series, inspired by Wes Craven’s iconic franchise, investigates the turmoil caused by murders in small suburban towns across America. It analyzes how peaceful residential streets can turn into scenes of horror and tragedy overnight. Each episode will detail a real murder case that took place on one of America’s many Elm Streets.

The series is produced by Grandma’s House Entertainment, notable for projects like Catching Kelce, Let’s Get Physical, and The Trust: A Game of Greed.

Cabin in the Woods, also launching on September 9, examines crimes occurring in secluded cabins across the nation. This series combines investigative elements with a true-horror narrative style.

The production is managed by Blumhouse Television and ITV America’s Leftfield Pictures, in collaboration with Spring Theory.
