Trump Rally Features Celine Dion’s ‘Titanic’ Classic

Donald Trump’s rally in Montana on Friday ignited a wave of social media reactions after Celine Dion’s famous song ‘My Heart Will Go On’ from Titanic was played loudly just before the former president took the stage.

The Daily Mail highlighted the irony of playing a song associated with a sinking ship at Trump’s rally. This irony was noted by numerous observers on social media, with some even speculating whether a mole from Kamala Harris’s team had chosen the song to troll Trump.

This incident raises questions regarding the campaign’s rights to use the song, which are owned by 20th Century Fox. Dion’s representatives have been contacted for comment.

This isn’t the first time Trump’s campaign has used Dion’s iconic 1997 hit. The song was played at a Trump rally on November 1, 2020, during the last leg of his presidential campaign. The following day, Whoopi Goldberg, the moderator of The View, remarked on the irony, saying, “The irony is just magnificent.” Co-host Sara Haines added, “That does not bode well for anyone.”

The song made another appearance at a Trump rally in June 2021 in North Carolina and was included in the playlist for the January 6, 2021 MAGA rally in Washington DC, an event that preceded the storming of the Capitol.

The song’s inclusion wasn’t the only controversial aspect of the Montana rally. Trump’s speech also involved misgendering Algerian boxer Imane Khelif, who recently won a gold medal at the Paris Olympics, and mocking overweight Democrat Senator John Tester.

This controversy follows a recent complaint by French musician Woodkid, who accused Trump of using his track in a campaign video without permission. Woodkid expressed his concerns on X, writing: “Run Boy Run is a LGBT+ anthem written by me, a proud LGBT+ musician. How ironic. Once again, I never gave permission for the use of my music on that [Donald Trump] film.” Woodkid had previously complained when the video was initially released in December, but it was re-released this week.
