Trump Ridiculed for New Digital Trading Cards Featuring Debate Suit Pieces

Donald Trump has unveiled a new set of digital trading cards as he seeks to bolster his fundraising efforts amidst competition from Kamala Harris’s campaign.

In a video shared on Truth Social on Tuesday, Trump expressed his enthusiasm over the cards’ return, claiming it was “by popular demand.” Each card is priced at an eye-popping $99.

The “America First” collection comprises 50 unique images, showcasing Trump in dynamic poses, including one where he appears in a suit reminiscent of Ironman adorned with the Bitcoin logo. This connection seems deliberate, as Trump has actively sought support from the cryptocurrency community.

In the video, he dubbed himself the “crypto-president,” humorously questioning the validity of the title: “I don’t know if that’s true or not, but a lot of people are saying that.”

The former president, now a Republican nominee, highlighted the perks of buying his digital cards. For those who purchase 15 or more, he promises a physical card as a bonus.

Trump elaborated that each physical card contains a fragment of the suit he wore during the presidential debate, quipping, “People are calling it ‘the knock-out’ suit – I don’t know about that – but that’s what they’re calling it.”

President Joe Biden’s lackluster performance against Trump in a debate on June 27 eventually resulted in him stepping down as the Democratic nominee, leading to his endorsement of Kamala Harris on July 21.

Additionally, Trump announced that he would be randomly autographing five of the physical cards, branding them as “true collector’s items.” He encouraged buyers to consider them as meaningful gifts for family members.

For those willing to invest even more, purchasing 75 digital cards will also grant access to an exclusive “gala dinner” at his Jupiter, Florida country club. This package, totaling $7,425, is sure to attract dedicated collectors.

Trump maintained that his trading cards allow supporters to “collect a piece of American history,” but the announcement was met with skepticism.

Critics on social media quickly ridiculed his endeavor, with one user on X questioning, “Does Donald Trump ever stop grifting off of his supporters? He’s pushing those worthless trading cards again.”

Previous versions of Trump’s trading cards have included striking and humorous images, such as him posing with a lion in a crown featuring the number 45, as the king of hearts, grilling hotdogs next to a dog, and even portraying Trump as George Washington.

Journalist Carla Marinucci remarked on the situation, noting, “Latest presidential candidate grift: Trump is pushing fans to get a swath of his ‘knock-out’ debate suit — seriously — along with digital trading cards.”

Media commentator Mike Sington echoed the sentiment, suggesting that Trump’s venture into digital trading cards is a sign of his “desperation for cash.”
