Trump’s New Jersey Club to Hold Awards Gala for Jan. 6 Riot Participants

On August 22, it was reported that a club owned by former President Donald Trump in New Jersey is set to host an “awards gala” for individuals imprisoned for their involvement in the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot. This event will include 20 choir members who participated in the creation of the charity song Justice for All.

The gala is scheduled for September 5 and will be organized by the pro-Trump political action committee known as NEW GEN 47 along with Vote Your Vision. The venue for this event is the Trump National Golf Club located in Bedminster.

While Trump has been invited as a guest, sources indicate that he has not confirmed whether he will speak at the event. Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani is also on the guest list. Giuliani has been indicted in Georgia due to allegations concerning attempts to overturn Trump’s defeat in the 2020 presidential election within the state. Additionally, influential figure within the MAGA movement, Anthony Raimondi, has been invited to attend.

General admission tickets for the gala are set at $1,500, with VIP tickets costing $2,500. Attendees who donate can consider their contributions as tax-deductible.

Among the highlights of the gala will be a raffle for a plaque celebrating the song Justice for All, which features performances by individuals convicted for their roles in the Capitol riot. This recording achieved platinum status on the Billboard Music chart in March 2023. The song features the choir performing The Star-Spangled Banner alongside Trump reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.

Promotional material for the event states, “This event is not just a celebration of the song’s success but also an opportunity to show our support and solidarity.” It is also described as a vital fundraiser aimed at providing essential assistance to the January 6th defendants who continue to encounter considerable obstacles.

Trump has previously referred to those incarcerated due to their actions during the protest as “hostages.” The scale of the legal repercussions is significant, with over 1,230 individuals facing federal charges linked to the events of January 6th.

Furthermore, Trump has suggested that he would grant pardons to certain rioters if he were to regain the presidency. While speaking at a conference for the National Association of Black Journalists in Chicago last month, he stated, “Oh, absolutely, I would. If they’re innocent, I would pardon them. They were convicted by a very tough system.”
