Tua Tagovailoa is a proud Taylor Swift fan and doesn’t hide it

On Friday, Tua Tagovailoa took the field in an orange jersey for the start of practice. Players are given that honor when they have an impressive session the day prior.

And with that, comes some perks. One of which is to choose the playlist for the day.

During that practice, Taylor Swift’s hit song, ‘You Belong With Me,’ came on. So is Tagovailoa a Swiftie?

“I haven’t been able to attend any of Taylor Swift’s concerts or whatever, but I’ve been listening to her music since I was, what, middle school maybe,” the Miami Dolphins quarterback told reporters on Saturday. “And for her to still be going at this level, being elite in the game is crazy. It’s crazy.”

So we will count that as a yes.

And if he’s willing to put it on the playlist at training camp, he doesn’t care who knows it.

But even though he’s a fan of the singer, don’t count on him also being a member of Chiefs Kingdom. Dolphins forever!

The Miami Dolphins have their man for the foreseeable future, reaching an agreement on a contract extension with QB Tua Tagovailoa, per multiple outlets.

The deal is reported to be for four years and $212.4 million. As Mike Garafolo notes, it’s the largest annual average value on a four-year contract in NFL history.

Tagovailoa’s deal marks the third massive quarterback contract extension of the offseason. The Detroit Lions and Jared Goff reached an agreement on a four-year, $212 million deal back in May. The Jacksonville Jaguars and Trevor Lawrence agreed to a five-year, $275 million deal last month.

Tagovailoa’s deal is, interestingly enough, just over the stated value of Goff’s deal by $400,000. Surely that wasn’t unintentional.

Tua was asked by the franchise to prove he could stay healthy, and he did just that last year, starting all 18 games while leading the NFL in passing yards. As such, after a delayed process, the Dolphins finally put their money where their mouths were and committed financially to a player that they repeatedly have said is their guy.

Tua Tagovailoa is the Miami Dolphins’ man for the next four years. The Dolphins’ starting quarterback reached an agreement on a four-year, $212.4 million contract extension with the Dolphins on Friday afternoon.

For those who might still have a sliver of doubt until the pen meets paper, save the worry. The star QB issued a statement of appreciation for the new deal on his Instagram account on Friday afternoon.

“What’s up, guys? Tua here. Got some breaking news for you guys, although I never break any news. This is the first time for me. I just wanted to say that I agreed to a contract extension with the Miami Dolphins. I just wanted to give a big shoutout to Mr. (Stephen) Ross. I wanted to thank Chris Grier, Brandon Shore for working endlessly on this deal. I want to thank Mike McDaniel for believing in me. I want to thank all of my other coaches as well. I also want to give a big shoutout to my teammates for believing in me, but also supporting me throughout this process, and I also want to thank the fans as well. Fins up.”
