Twisters Star Glen Powell’s Parents Hilariously Support ‘Force of Nature’

Glen Powell steals the show in Lee Isaac Chung’s Twisters, but his parents steal hearts at his premieres, recently providing a touching reminder of his humble beginnings.

While Powell was on the Today show, his parents stood behind him holding signs, similar to what they did at the premiere of his previous film, Hit Man. His mom’s sign humorously read, "I changed Glen Powell’s diapers." His father brought some humor with his Twisters-themed sign: "Glen Powell is our force of nature."

When asked about the journey, his mom said, "It’s a fun ride. We have big FOMO, so this is really big fun for us."

This sweet moment was yet another adorable exchange between Glen Powell and his supportive parents, who are visibly thrilled about his rise to fame. Powell is quickly establishing himself as one of Hollywood’s leading men, with a promising career trajectory ahead.

Powell’s latest movie, Twisters, is a standalone sequel to the 1996 film Twister. The movie stars Daisy Edgar-Jones, Powell, and Anthony Ramos, who portray storm chasers. The plot follows Kate (Edgar-Jones), who leaves storm chasing after a traumatic event but is drawn back into the fray by her friend Javi (Ramos). They encounter Tyler Owens (Powell), a storm-chasing influencer jokingly referred to as a "hillbilly with a YouTube" by one character.

Initially, Kate and Tyler become rivals, but the threat of devastating storms forces them to team up. Directed by Lee Isaac Chung and based on a script by Mark L. Smith, Twisters features a story developed by Joseph Kosinski, who directed Powell in Top Gun: Maverick. Chung, renowned for his film Minari, which earned six Oscar nominations including Best Picture, brings his directorial prowess to this sequel.

Glen Powell’s journey to stardom began with small roles in movies like Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over, The Wendall Baker Story, and Fast Food Nation. Over the years, he secured roles in films such as The Dark Knight Rises, The Expendables 3, Ride Along 2, and Hidden Figures. He also starred in Sand Castle, and Set It Up soon after.

From 2015 to 2016, Powell played Chad Radwell in the first season of Scream Queens, and transitioned to a recurring role in the second season. This role was the most notable of his career at that time.

His breakout year was 2022, beginning with a starring role in Richard Linklater’s Apollo 10 1/2: A Space Age Childhood. That same year, he featured in one of the biggest movies, Top Gun: Maverick, alongside Tom Cruise, Miles Teller, and Jon Hamm, among others.

Later in 2022, Powell starred in the war drama Devotion with Jonathan Majors. In addition to acting, Powell also served as an executive producer for the project.

The following year, 2023, proved to be another remarkable period for Powell as he co-wrote and starred in Hit Man alongside director Richard Linklater. He also starred in the romantic comedy Anyone but You, featuring Sydney Sweeney. This film was a huge success, grossing over $220 million worldwide.
