The two physicians charged in connection with Matthew Perry’s death continue to hold their medical licenses and have the shocking ability to prescribe medication to any of their patients, TMZ has learned.

Last week, Dr. Mark Chavez and Dr. Salvador Plasencia faced charges for illegally conspiring to supply ketamine to the late “Friends” star.

TMZ initially reported that the California State Medical Board had launched an investigation into both doctors but had kept their medical licenses active without disciplining them.

We have now learned that the State Medical Board has placed zero restrictions on the doctors’ licenses. This means they can still prescribe serious medications to anyone, similar to what they were accused of doing in the Perry case, and continue to practice.

The Board released an official statement saying, “Both licenses are current and active and the Board has not imposed any restrictions on them.”

Regarding the Perry case, Dr. Chavez has already cut a deal with prosecutors, pleading guilty to conspiracy to distribute ketamine.

Prosecutors revealed that Chavez admitted to selling the drug to Dr. Plasencia after obtaining the ketamine by writing fraudulent prescriptions.

Plasencia frequently injected Matthew with massive doses of ketamine, even administering the drug at Perry’s home. According to court documents, Plasencia referred to Perry as a “moron” in one text message to Chavez, while speculating on how much the actor would pay for ketamine.

Plasencia is currently facing charges of conspiracy to distribute ketamine, distribution of ketamine resulting in death, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, and altering and falsifying records related to a federal investigation. He has pleaded not guilty.
