Tyla Twerks Under Men on Stilts in Dynamic BET Awards Performance

Tyla captivated audiences at the 2024 BET Awards on Sunday, June 30, with a stunning performance that showcased her talent and charisma. The South African sensation brought fellow artists Gunna and Skillibeng on stage to perform their new song “Jump,” which was released earlier this year.

The act began with an enchanting display where several painted dancers posed to form the illusion of a caged tiger. Tyla then made a dramatic entrance, descending onto the stage and announcing herself as “a pretty girl from Joburg.” The dancers broke free from their cages and joined Tyla as she energetically sang about her love for making things “jump.”

Gunna’s verse brought another layer of excitement as he rapped beside a life-sized elephant. Following his part, Skillibeng took the stage, accompanied by men on stilts. Tyla showcased her moves by twerking under the elevated dancers, keeping the audience thoroughly engaged. The 22-year-old star wrapped up her performance with a captivating crawl down the stage as confetti fell from above.

Earlier this year, Tyla released her self-titled debut album, which features collaborations with notable artists such as Tems, Becky G, Travis Scott, and Gunna. The album has been highly anticipated and well-received by fans and critics alike.

Beyond her musical endeavors, Tyla has also made a significant impact in the fashion world. She made her Met Gala debut with a breathtaking Balmain gown that adhered to the “Garden of Time” theme. Her dress, designed to make her appear as if she was covered in sand, featured an hourglass and was so elaborate that she had to be carried up the steps due to limited mobility.

The 2024 BET Awards, hosted by Taraji P. Henson, boasted a star-studded lineup of performances. Megan Thee Stallion kicked off the event with an electrifying opening number. Will Smith also made an appearance, sharing some new music. Usher, this year’s Super Bowl halftime show headliner, was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award and delivered a memorable performance.

Other noteworthy performers included GloRilla, Latto, Childish Gambino, Ms. Lauryn Hill & YG Marley, Ice Spice, Muni Long, Sexyy Red, Shaboozey, and Victoria Monét. Each artist brought their unique style and energy, making the night one to remember.
