UnitedMasters Offers Artists a $250,000 Prize, Led by Steve Stoute

Longtime music executive Steve Stoute’s distribution company, UnitedMasters, is offering a grand prize worth $250,000 to independent artists.

On Tuesday (Aug. 13), UnitedMasters revealed their “Make Your Debut” Challenge. This contest invites U.S.-based artists who are members of the platform to submit tracks, offering a chance to win the substantial grand prize and join UnitedMasters’ elite partner roster. The contest coincides with the launch of UnitedMasters’ new DEBUT+ membership tier, priced at $19.99 annually. This tier allows aspiring artists to distribute their music on major streaming platforms while retaining 100 percent of their royalties.

Founded in 2017, UnitedMasters was launched by Steve Stoute with an impressive $70 million in funding from Silicon Valley investors, including Alphabet Inc., Andreessen Horowitz, and 21st Century Fox, with NewsCorp sharing common ownership. Stoute’s vision for the company was clear from the start: “We want to build a business that helps musicians and also helps brands find a much more specific way of investing their money in the category of music,” he said.

Besides distribution, UnitedMasters offers a suite of services that include data analytics, marketing and promotional tools, and creative services to help artists expand their audience. Currently, the company boasts connections with artists like NLE Choppa, Brent Faiyez, BigXThaPlug, Tobe Nwigwe, EarthGang, Anycia, and others.
