Unused Wolverinepool Variant Revealed in Deadpool & Wolverine Concept Art

Deadpool & Wolverine has topped $1.14 billion at the box office since its late July release and continues to amaze audiences. If you were contemplating watching it again, it’s undoubtedly worth a repeat theater visit. A second or even third viewing lets you catch interesting details you may have missed amidst all the twists and turns.

However, this final version of Deadpool 3 omits the Wolverinepool superhero concept. This version combines the best attributes of Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) and Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) into one character.

Thankfully, one of Marvel’s talented designers has shared the concept art for Wolverinepool on Instagram, and it’s absolutely fascinating. For those who haven’t seen Deadpool & Wolverine, this artwork won’t spoil any vital plot elements.

Artist David Masson shared Wolverinepool on Instagram. The character’s suit closely resembles what Deadpool wears in the movie but with a few notable modifications. The character sports the iconic Wolverine mask and has adamantium claws, just like Wolverine. This version of Wolverinepool doesn’t use katanas or guns.

Not going to lie – watching a blend of Wolverine and Deadpool in the film would have been captivating. The potential of who would voice the character, Reynolds or Jackman, and what kind of personality it would have is intriguing. Would it be a wisecracking Merc with a Mouth or a rugged Logan-type character?

Imagine Jackman delivering crude jokes as Wolverinepool. But integrating this character into Deadpool & Wolverine could disrupt the film’s narrative flow. Additionally, the film already boasts an astonishing cameo from Chris Evans. The scene where Johnny Storm delivers a profane monologue in the Deadpool 3 credits is spectacular.

On the flip side, Reynolds voicing a more serious iteration of Wolverine could strip the character of Deadpool’s signature humor.

The crux of why Wolverinepool couldn’t appear in Deadpool 3 directly ties to the movie’s plot. For instance, the opening scene features Deadpool utilizing Wolverine’s adamantium bones to eliminate numerous TVA soldiers. He even equips the claws at the end of that sequence for a gory finisher.

The pivotal fight scene in Deadpool & Wolverine involves the protagonists battling an army of Deadpools from the Void. During this scene, Logan dons Wolverine’s iconic mask for the first time on the big screen. This moment, anticipated throughout the film, delivers a surprising and rewarding impact.

Introducing Wolverinepool could overshadow this momentous reveal because Wolverinepool would inherently need to wear Wolverine’s mask. Moreover, placing Wolverinepool among the sea of Deadpools would make it challenging for the character to stand out.

It’s also essential to note that the Void lacks any Wolverine, a critical plot detail. The absence of Wolverine is a strategic element that assists the protagonists. A Wolverinepool in the Void would arm the villain with a version of Wolverine, thus altering the story’s dynamics.

Nevertheless, now that Deadpool and Wolverine are part of the MCU and the multiverse, anything is possible. We might eventually see Wade and Logan team up with the Avengers to confront Doctor Doom (Robert Downey Jr.).
