Val Chmerkovskiy & Jenna Johnson Take Son on a ‘Perfect’ Trip

Dancing With The Stars Season 33 is just a few weeks away. Reigning champion Val Chmerkovskiy and his wife Jenna Johnson are making the most of their time together as a family before the competition heats up.

The competition is intense and leaves little room for downtime. Val and Jenna often have their baby son with them during work projects. As the summer wraps up, they wanted to ensure he had a fantastic final vacation.

Summer might be ending, but the Chmerkovskiys are grabbing every chance to enjoy togetherness and explore new places. Recently, the family traveled to Turks and Caicos along with some extended family members.

Val and Jenna cherish being part of a big, happy family and didn’t want to plan their vacation without them.

“Family is everything to us. The chance to celebrate and relax in the gorgeous Turks and Caicos with Rome and my parents is truly a gift,” Val shared with PEOPLE. “My parents love our son and love spending every possible minute with him.”

Although traveling with a baby can be challenging, the Chmerkovskiys say little Rome is becoming quite accustomed to it.

“We travel quite a bit for work and we’ve taken Rome everywhere with us. He’s quite a traveler already and we feel very comfortable with him coming along,” the couple shared. “We didn’t want parenthood to stop us from enjoying ourselves; it’s just now we enjoy ourselves with Rome. It’s the best.”

Rome Chmerkovskiy is set to grow up with fantastic memories of globe-trotting with his parents. Val and Jenna are looking to explore Jamaica next, though that trip might have to wait until the following year.

There are rumors about casting for the upcoming Dancing With the Stars season. Insider Krystin Burtt mentioned that Season 33 will see a significantly smaller cast than previously expected, likely meaning many fan-favorite dancers may not return.

Val and Jenna haven’t confirmed nor denied their participation. However, Jenna did mention their willingness to come back if invited.

“I don’t know yet,” the 30-year-old dancer told PopCulture about her status for Season 33. “But I would absolutely love to return this season. I think it’s a gift and an honor every single time you’re asked back as a professional on the show. So I still get butterflies while waiting for the call, so hopefully, I’ll find out soon.”

The full cast list is expected to be revealed on September 4, so fans won’t have long to wait for answers.

Season 33 of Dancing With the Stars premieres at 8 PM Eastern time on Tuesday, September 17.
