Valhalla Season 3: The Meaning Behind James Flynn’s Tribute

James Flynn’s first significant role as a producer was with the long-running children’s program “Mystic Knights of Tir Na Nog.” This venture paved the way for his journey into the film industry. Flynn contributed to numerous films including “Angela’s Ashes,” “Ella Enchanted,” the 2004 rendition of “King Arthur,” “Tristan + Isolde,” “Becoming Jane,” “Reign of Fire,” “The Last Duel,” “Disenchanted,” and “Leap Year.”

On television, he co-produced several acclaimed series such as “The Tudors,” “Camelot,” “Penny Dreadful,” “The Borgias,” and “Into the Badlands.” He also played a crucial role in both “Vikings” series. Many of his works received IFTA awards, which are considered the Irish equivalent of an Emmy and an Oscar combined.

Colleagues who spoke with The Hollywood Reporter praised Flynn as a pioneer in the Irish entertainment sector. “No words can adequately describe the immense contribution James has made to the Irish film and television industry over three decades on both a national and international level. He willingly and generously gave his advice and guidance to all who sought his counsel, from young emerging filmmakers to established Irish and international industry practitioners,” stated Flynn’s Metropolitan Film Productions Limited company, as republished by The Hollywood Reporter. Through “Vikings: Valhalla,” his legacy will endure.
