Apple TV+’s hit crime drama “Criminal Record” is set to return for a second season. The series sees Peter Capaldi, renowned for his role in “Doctor Who,” and Cush Jumbo of “Vera” fame, reprising their roles as Detective Chief Inspector Daniel Hegarty and Detective Sergeant June Lenker, respectively. The dynamic duo, who also serve as executive producers, received widespread acclaim for their compelling performances in the series’ inaugural season, which premiered in January.

Season two promises to captivate audiences once more as the detectives find themselves embroiled in a complex murder investigation. According to the official synopsis, the new season commences with a far-right counter-protest violently disrupting a political rally, resulting in the death of a young man. Overwhelmed by guilt, June Lenker is determined to bring the elusive killer to justice.

She faces the daunting task of seeking his assistance, though it demands she accepts a perilous bargain. The narrative, penned by BAFTA Award nominee Paul Rutman, delves into the intricacies of police work and the moral challenges faced by those upholding the law.

Rutman, known for his work on “Vera” and “Indian Summers,” leads the creative charge for the series. Season two sees BAFTA Scotland Award winner Elaine Collins, recognized for her contributions to “Shetland” and “Vera,” joining Chris Sussman of “Trying” and “Good Omens” fame as executive producers alongside Rutman, Capaldi, and Jumbo.
