Vince Vaughn Stars as Suspended Florida Detective in ‘Bad Monkey’

July 24 (UPI) — Apple TV+ has released a teaser for its upcoming series Bad Monkey.

The trailer, unveiled on Wednesday, showcases Vince Vaughn in the leading role. Bad Monkey, a comedy-drama, comes from Bill Lawrence, the creator behind hit shows like Scrubs and Ted Lasso. The series is based on Carl Hiaasen’s novel of the same name.

In the show, Vaughn plays Andrew Yancy, a detective from the Miami Police Department who is suspended and subsequently takes up a job as a health inspector in the Florida Keys. The story kicks off when Yancy comes across a human arm fished out by tourists. The official synopsis hints that, in his quest to prove it was a murder, Yancy hopes to reclaim his former position. However, he must navigate his way through various eccentric Floridians and contend with one mischievous monkey.

The ensemble cast features notable names such as L. Scott Caldwell, Rob Delaney, Meredith Hagner, Natalie Martinez, Alex Moffat, Michelle Monaghan, Ronald Peet, and Jodie Turner-Smith. Additionally, guest stars include John Ortiz, Zach Braff, Ashley Nicole Black, Scott Glenn, and Charlotte Lawrence.

Apple TV+ had previously shared first-look photos of the series in May. Bad Monkey will have a total of 10 episodes, with a two-episode premiere slated for August 14.
