Viral TikTok cucumber salad recipe lands couple in the hospital

The perfect summer salad is here: crunchy, tangy, and with over 14.1 million views on TikTok. It’s the viral cucumber salad created by the popular foodie, Logan.

On TikTok, Logan, known under the handle @logagm, has become the leader of the "Cucumber Community," sharing numerous recipes for refreshing cucumber salads in a jar. With over 4.8 million followers and his videos typically gaining between two to six million views each, Logan has captivated audiences with his simple yet delightful cucumber dishes.

"I was about to go to sleep, but I was craving an entire cucumber," Logan mentioned in a video posted on July 19. His signature cooking method involves using a whole cucumber, slicing it finely with a mandoline over a Tupperware container. He then adds a variety of seasonings, including soy sauce, chili crunch, shaved garlic, sesame seeds, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Logan finishes by vigorously shaking the container to mix the flavors, and then enjoys the salad, eating one cucumber slice at a time with metal chopsticks.

Eager fans have hurried to recreate Logan’s cucumber salad, often sticking to his technique while tweaking some ingredients. Alix Earle, a beauty influencer, tried the recipe in a TikTok posted on August 9. However, while slicing the cucumber, she noticed the mandoline could be quite risky.

"You guys said to be really careful with this," she remarked. “Apparently, these are really sharp and dangerous.” Earle continued to slice the cucumber carefully, making sure her fingers stayed clear of the blades. "Oh, I see how these can be really dangerous," she admitted.

Despite Earle successfully completing the salad preparation without injury, not everyone has been as lucky. On August 11, Jackson Dean ended up in the emergency room after his attempt at the recipe went horribly wrong. In a TikTok video, Dean is seen slicing the cucumber when he accidentally caught the tip of his finger on the mandoline blade. "Moments before disaster," the on-screen caption ominously read.

Dean was making Logan’s viral salad with his girlfriend and fellow TikToker, Paige Taylor. "Oh my gosh, please be careful of your hand," Taylor warned. Despite appearing to get into a rhythm with the slicing, Dean started getting playful with the technique and inadvertently ignored the positioning of his fingers.

As the cucumber got smaller, Dean sped up and ultimately severed the tip of his middle finger. "Ow," he cried out, throwing the cucumber and mandoline aside. “Ow, oh f. F. F***. We got to get to the hospital.”

In a follow-up post on Taylor’s TikTok page, the couple is seen sitting in the emergency room, with Dean holding up his bandaged finger. "POV your boyfriend attempts to make Logan’s cucumber salad," Taylor commented.

The video’s comment section was flooded with remarks from viewers who pointed out how Taylor had warned Dean to be cautious. One follower remarked, "The way u kept saying be careful with ur hand," while another commented, “What did we learn here today, NEVER LET JACKSON MAKE A CUCUMBER SALAD.”

A third viewer admitted, "Bro, I thought you guys were acting," to which Taylor responded, “I THOUGHT HE WAS TOO.”
