Warner Bros. Removes Cartoon Network’s Website and Videos

Warner Bros. has deleted the entire Cartoon Network website, including all episodes and video clips that could previously be watched for free. This includes popular shows such as Teen Titans and Adventure Time. Now, visitors to the website are greeted with a message encouraging them to subscribe to Max, Warner Bros.’s streaming service, to watch their favorite Cartoon Network programs.

The decision to remove the Cartoon Network website follows the merger between Cartoon Network and Warner Animation. This merger has sparked fears among fans and industry watchers that the beloved animation giant and its extensive archive of TV shows might be at risk. These concerns appear to be more justified now, given Warner Bros.’s track record of abruptly removing content from Max due to perceived low growth potential, leaving fans without access.

In a statement to Variety, a Warner Bros. spokesperson mentioned, “We are focusing on the Cartoon Network shows and social media where we find consumers are the most engaged and there is a meaningful potential for growth.” They added that Cartoon Network would continue its regularly scheduled programming on linear TV every day from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Warner Bros. recently reported significant losses in its earnings call and has been exploring ways to boost its streaming revenue over the past 18 months. Despite these challenges, the company had managed to generate over $1 billion by April 2024. Max’s monthly subscription plans start at $9.99, but ad-free options are priced higher, starting at $16.99. There are also bundle options with Hulu or Disney+, starting at $29.99.
