Watch ‘Chapter One’ of Kevin Costner’s Western Online: How to Stream

Max announced on Friday that Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1 , the Western epic starring Yellowstone‘s Kevin Costner, will be landing on the streamer later this month.

The announcement was made on what was supposed to be the theatrical release date for Chapter 2. However, after the first Horizon underperformed at the box office — grossing $34 million worldwide against a $100 million budget — the first follow-up (of potentially three) got pulled from the schedule.

Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1 will land on Max on Friday, Aug. 23. So, you’ll need to subscribe to the platform to stream the movie from home.

You can watch Horizon: An American Saga on Max by subscribing to one of their plans:

Max offers three plans. The first is its ad-supported plan. If you are willing to sit through some commercial breaks, you can sign up for Max for just $9.99/month, or $99.99/year, to watch Kevin Costner’s new movie online. With this cost-effective plan, you can stream on two devices simultaneously and cancel anytime, allowing you to avoid paying for multiple months.

For an uninterrupted experience, opt for the ad-free plan at $16.99/month, or $169.9/year. This plan offers the same perks as the ad-supported plan, plus the ability to download 30 titles for on-the-go viewing.

If you prefer a 4K viewing experience, go for the Ultimate ad-free plan. This $20.99/month subscription provides premium perks, including streaming on four devices at once, 4K Ultra HD video quality, Dolby Atmos immersive audio, and 100 downloads to watch on the go. As with all Max subscriptions, you can cancel at any time.

Max has also introduced bundle offers, enabling subscribers to enjoy Max, Disney Plus, and Hulu with one plan. The ad-supported bundle is priced at $16.99/month, while the ad-free version costs $29.99/month. However, for a straightforward way to stream Horizon online, opting for a basic Max subscription is recommended.

Max is currently not offering a free trial, so watching Horizon online for free is not an option. We suggest subscribing to the ad-supported Max plan for a budget-friendly approach. Keep an eye out for potential future trials that might allow free streaming of Horizon: An American Saga .

Max can also be added to other streaming subscriptions for an additional monthly fee. For example, if you already subscribe to Hulu, you can add Max for an additional $15.99/month. Prime Video subscribers can also add Max for $15.99/month.

Additionally, Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1 is available to rent on Prime Video for $5.99. Rentals include 30 days to watch the movie and 48 hours to finish it once started. For an extra $14, you can purchase the movie online and stream it endlessly on Prime Video, without needing a Prime membership.

The film, also created and produced by Costner, explores the lure of the Old West and how it was won — and lost — through the blood, sweat, and tears of many. The movie covers the period from 1861 to 1865, the years of the Civil War, and follows the emotional journey across a nation at war with itself. The story is experienced through the perspectives of families, friends, and foes, all attempting to discover what it truly means to be the United States of America.

In addition to Costner, the film features a star-studded cast, including Sienna Miller, Sam Worthington, Giovanni Ribisi, Jena Malone, Owen Crow Shoe, Tatanka Means, Ella Hunt, Tim Guinee, Danny Huston, Colin Cunningham, Scott Haze, Tom Payne, Abbey Lee, Michael Rooker, Will Patton, Georgia MacPhail, Douglas Smith, Luke Wilson, Isabelle Fuhrman, Jamie Campbell Bower, Alejandro Edda, Wasé Winyan Chief, Michael Anganaro, Angus Macfadyen, Jon Beavers, Alex Nibley, Kathleen Quinlan, Etienne Kellici, Amos Jason Charging Cloud, Bodhi Okuma Linton, Gregory Cruz, James Russo, Jeff Fahey, David O’Hara, Chris Conner, Leroy M. Silva, Bernardo Velasco, Tom Everett, and Glynn Turman, among others.
