Watch James Hetfield in the First Trailer for ‘The Thicket’ Movie

Get ready to see Metallica’s James Hetfield in a way you’ve never seen before. The first trailer for the upcoming western film The Thicket has just been released.

Back in March 2023, news broke about Hetfield’s involvement in the film. At the time, details about his role were scarce. But now, thanks to some first-look photos released by Tubi in late June, we know he’s playing a sheriff. The trailer, uploaded to Tubi’s YouTube channel, showcases the Metallica frontman in action, notably in an intense gunfight.

The film, helmed by director Elliott Lester, is based on Joe R. Lansdale’s 2013 mystery novel of the same name. Alongside Hetfield, the cast includes some notable names such as Peter Dinklage, known for his role in Game of Thrones, Juliette Lewis from Yellowjackets and Natural Born Killers, and comedian Andrew Schulz, among others.

The film’s description on YouTube sets the scene: “When a bounty hunter and a band of unlikely heroes pursue a brutal killer, they find themselves in a deadly no-man’s-land known as The Thicket.”

The book, which provides the foundation for the movie, is set in early 1900s Texas. It centers on Jack Parker, who embarks on a quest to rescue his sister Lula, kidnapped by a band of ruthless bandits.

Moviegoers can look forward to catching The Thicket in theaters starting September 6. Until then, the first trailer offers a promising glimpse of what’s to come.
