Watch the First Clip from the Upcoming Terminator Zero Movie

Terminator Zero is just hours away from its debut, marking that Judgment Day is upon us. On August 29, Netflix will bring its new anime to life, created in collaboration with Production I.G. and Skydance Television. Fans of The Terminator franchise have been treated to a first look at the anime through a gripping clip that promises an enthralling experience.

The sneak peek from Netflix reveals Terminator Zero gearing up for its premiere. The clip begins with a dramatic scene featuring a runaway truck on the freeway. It doesn’t take long to identify the characters: a soldier trying to save the future from Skynet is driving the truck when a cybernetic assassin from the future stops the vehicle in its tracks.

Disguised as a cop, the assassin attempts to take out our heroes. However, even this formidable robot is no match for a fully-loaded truck. As the action unfolds, Terminator Zero introduces Malcolm Lee and his family, who are pivotal in stopping Skynet from causing global chaos. The Terminator has traveled to Japan with the mission to eliminate Malcolm Lee, a visionary scientist.

The visual style of Terminator Zero stays true to what Production I.G. is known for. The studio, famous for hits like Ghost in the Shell, excels in creating compelling sci-fi cyberpunk themes. With a storyline crafted by Mattson Tomlin, Terminator Zero has all the attributes of a hit series. Anime enthusiasts might recognize the directorial work of Masashi Kudo, known for his contributions to Bleach and other notable titles.

If you’re not familiar with Terminator Zero, the Netflix original premieres on August 29. Here’s a bit more about the series from its official synopsis:

“Set in 1990s Japan, Malcolm Lee has been developing another AI system intended to compete with Skynet. As Judgment Day approaches in 1997, Lee finds himself and his three children pursued by an unknown robot assassin. A mysterious soldier from the year 2022 has been sent to protect him.”
