Watch These Walking Dead Episodes Directed by Cast Members

The Walking Dead: Dead City is set to premiere its second season in 2025. Lauren Cohan, who plays Maggie Rhee in The Walking Dead universe (TWDU), has stepped into the director’s chair for two episodes of the upcoming season. It’s always a thrill to see beloved cast members take on new roles within the same fandom. Cohan joins a lineup of other TWDU cast members who have transitioned into directing.

Michael Cudlitz, widely recognized for his role as Abraham Ford in The Walking Dead, is also notable for his work behind the camera. After his character’s tragic death in season 7 at the hands of Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), Cudlitz returned to direct multiple episodes of the main series and one of its spinoffs.

Lennie James, beginning his role as Morgan Jones during the pilot episode of The Walking Dead, reappeared briefly in season 3. By season 5, he became part of the main cast, remaining until season 5 when he made the first character crossover to Fear the Walking Dead. His journey continued in Fear the Walking Dead’s fourth season and spanned through the show’s final eighth season.

Alycia Debnam-Carey began portraying Alicia Clark in the pilot episode of Fear the Walking Dead and remained until season 7. Fans were delighted to see her return in the series finale of season eight.

Another prominent character from Fear the Walking Dead is Victor Strand, brought to life by Colman Domingo. Starting his journey in the first season, Domingo’s portrayal of Strand was widely praised, culminating in his character’s survival and journey with a new family in the series’ conclusion.

Aisha Tyler made her entry into TWDU in season 7, episode 3 of Fear the Walking Dead, playing a character named Mickey. Although her character appeared only in that episode, she was mentioned later in episode 8 as she opted to avoid the conflict between Alicia and Strand by scouting.
