Wayne Brady Introduces Adult Daughter to Newborn Son

Wayne Brady is enjoying daddy duties.

In episode 3 of his new Freeform reality show Wayne Brady: The Family Remix, viewers see the Let’s Make a Deal host, 52, navigate fatherhood after becoming a father again to his son, Val Henry.

The scene begins when Brady’s ex-girlfriend and Val’s mother, Tina, leaves the baby with his dad and older half-sister — 21-year-old Maīle Masako Brady — as she runs errands.

Maile is Brady’s adult daughter with his former wife Mandie Taketa.

“Hey, how you doin’ Mr. Val?” Wayne playfully says to his baby boy.

“I know I’m not your mom and I don’t have any movies and I smell different, but you got me. I mean, this is it. You like the new place? You could come here and stay if you want to,” he continues.

Maīle previously made it clear that she’s not a fan of Tina or Val. However, she hopes her feelings for Tina “don’t get in the way” of Wayne and Val’s relationship.

Maīle then puts her feelings aside when she meets Val and holds him. The interaction causes the big sister to change her tune.

“It feels really amazing to meet Val. He’s so cute. He’s beautiful. Yeah, I don’t feel the need to have a relationship with Tina to have a relationship with Dad or Val,” Maīle says during the episode.

Wayne admits that he was nervous about having his blended family meet.

“I didn’t know what this moment would [be] like. I didn’t know how you would respond to him,” he tells his daughter. “Even Tina coming over today — I was freaking out about that moment. I haven’t slept since 3 o’clock this morning, so all of this is amazing.”

Speaking to PEOPLE in late July, Wayne opened up about how he was “shocked” to learn that his on-again-off-again ex Tina had become pregnant when the former couple dated during the pandemic.

“I was shocked,” he said. “I asked the silly question that I think many men since the beginning of time have asked. “’How?’ You know how! So get past it.”

The baby boy was named Val in honor of Wayne’s grandmother Valerie who had recently died.

“I never want Val to grow up thinking that he should be ashamed or look back and go, ‘Oh, my dad didn’t want me, or he was ashamed of me.’ Because I want him, in his own way, to know that I love him as much as I love Maīle, who is of me and that I had a part in creating,” he told PEOPLE. “So I had to do that work.”

Brady came out as pansexual in August 2023, and the series follows him navigating his many relationships, including the one with himself.

Wayne Brady: The Family Remix airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET on Freeform and the next day on Hulu.
