What General Grievous from Star Wars Would Look Like in Real Life

During the 2000s, amidst challenging times, Batman and Harry Potter provided a lifeline for Gary Oldman. Notably, he portrayed James Gordon in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy and took on the role of Sirius Black in the Harry Potter series. However, Oldman almost contributed his exceptional acting skills to another iconic franchise. In a revelation on the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast, he shared that he had recorded lines as General Grievous for “Revenge of the Sith,” under the direction of George Lucas. Despite his appreciation for working with Lucas, Oldman had to step away from the role due to union regulations, opting not to risk potential repercussions.

Oldman’s departure from the project ultimately opened the door for Matthew Wood. Wood had anonymously submitted his audition and emerged victorious among numerous contenders for the part. He has since become synonymous with General Grievous, reprising the role in several productions, including the animated series “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” and “Star Wars: Tales of the Empire.” Wood’s portrayal has become so iconic that it’s now hard to envision anyone else voicing the character. As for Oldman, there’s still potential for him to make an impact in the Star Wars universe, given the numerous movies and TV shows currently in development.
