What Happened to Robin Meade?

When Robin Meade joined the CNN family back in 2001, she couldn’t foresee just how challenging her first day would be. Meade began her journey with HLN’s predecessor, CNN Headline News, on September 11, 2001. She quickly rose to the occasion, demonstrating her exceptional reporting skills and deep compassion. Just two months into her tenure, she earned a promotion to morning show anchor.

As CNN Headline News transitioned into HLN, Meade’s show evolved as well. It was rebranded as “Robin & Company” in 2005, and later, in 2007, it became “Morning Express with Robin Meade.” Meade soon became a fixture on HLN. Even when the network shifted its focus to true crime in 2018 and ceased all live news programming, Meade’s five-hour morning segment remained untouched. She was such a beloved figure that, in 2021, HLN launched a significant marketing campaign to celebrate her 20 years on the air.

“She’s so darn good,” CNN executive vice president Ken Jautz told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “She’s a burst of energy every morning and she can connect with viewers like nobody else.”

However, by December 2022, that connection was no longer sufficient. The Los Angeles Times revealed that CNN was canceling “Morning Express” and ending all live programming on HLN to cut costs. Just a few days later, Meade made her final sign-off, expressing her gratitude to her team and devoted viewers. “Waking up with you has been the joy of my life,” she wrote on Instagram. “You are my morning sunshine.”
