The animated coming-of-age film returns to the mind of newly minted teenager Riley The Independent

As the summer holidays come to an end, you may be finding it increasingly difficult to keep your little ones entertained. If you’re running out of fun activities or the weather isn’t cooperating, don’t worry, we’ve got the perfect solution.

Coming to the rescue of tired parents everywhere, Disney and Pixar have got you covered with the digital release of the hit animated movie Inside Out 2.

While the sequel isn’t yet available on streaming platforms, you can now purchase it, allowing your family to enjoy this beloved film without heading to the cinema. Additionally, Inside Out 2 delivers an important message along with its entertainment.

The film helps teach children about emotions by personifying feelings such as joy, sadness, and anxiety into lively, colorful, and often hilarious characters that dwell in our minds. The original film was a huge hit in 2015, appealing to both kids and adults. Now, our cherished characters are back to tackle a new adversary: puberty, along with all its accompanying emotions.

Here’s everything you need to know about how you can watch this Pixar blockbuster from the comfort of your own home.

Pixar’s latest triumph is currently available for purchase on Apple TV and Amazon Prime Video. Though it’s not available for free streaming just yet, new viewers can try Apple TV+ for free for seven days, after which it costs £8.99 per month.

Inside Out 2 brings back all the emotions we met in the first film, such as Joy, Sadness, Fear, Anger, and Disgust, as they continue to assist Riley in learning and growing. Everything seems to be going smoothly until the inevitable happens: puberty. With puberty comes a new set of emotions, including Envy, Embarrassment, Ennui, and most overwhelmingly, Anxiety. Chaos unfolds as Riley’s emotions struggle to maintain balance while navigating the challenges of becoming a teenager.

The cast sees the return of Amy Poehler’s cheerful voice as Joy, joined by Phyllis Smith’s comically melancholic portrayal of Sadness. Mindy Kaling and Bill Hader, who voiced Disgust and Fear in the first film, have been replaced by Liza Lapira and Tony Hale.

New characters bring new voices, with The Bear’s breakout star Ayo Adebri voicing Envy, and Stranger Things actor Maya Hawke as Anxiety.

It’s no surprise that Inside Out 2 will eventually make its way to Disney Plus, along with numerous other Pixar favorites. While the exact date is unknown, based on past releases, it’s likely to be available for streaming about two months after its initial at-home purchase launch.

While Disney Plus no longer offers free trials for new customers, signing up is simple. Just visit the Disney+ website and complete the sign-up process through your web browser.
