Which Walking Dead spinoff shows are coming to Netflix in August?

In July, AMC announced a notable collaboration with Netflix to integrate several of AMC’s original series, including spinoffs of The Walking Dead, into the streaming giant’s library. Netflix has been the home for all eleven seasons of The Walking Dead, a deal secured until 2027. Further extensions of this agreement could be on the horizon.

The collaboration is set to kick off on August 19, when Netflix subscribers will gain access to 13 AMC series. These additions will include the first seasons of Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire and Mayfair Witches, Monsieur Spade, The Dirty Black Bag, and The Terror. Additionally, subscribers will get the first and second seasons of Dark Winds, Gangs of London, and *Kevin Can F** Himself. Seasons 1-3 of A Discovery of Witches, Into the Badlands, and four seasons of Preacher will also be added to Netflix’s lineup.

All eleven seasons of The Walking Dead remain available for streaming. The series, inspired by Robert Kirkman’s comic storyline, depicts the harrowing experiences of survivors navigating an undead apocalypse. They encounter constant threats from both the walking dead and the living.

Fear the Walking Dead, the first spinoff from the main series, aired for eight seasons on AMC. Premiering in 2015, it follows a different group of survivors, starting at the outbreak’s onset in Los Angeles. Over its eight seasons, the series switched locations multiple times, eventually concluding in Georgia.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, fifth in the line of spinoffs, debuted its first season in 2023. It chronicles the adventures of Daryl Dixon, played by Norman Reedus, as he journeys to France. The series has already been renewed for two additional seasons, with the second season set to premiere on September 29 under the subtitle "The Book of Carol". This season will see the return of Melissa McBride as Carol Peletier.

The Walking Dead: Dead City is another spinoff focusing on characters Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). This series is set in Manhattan and explores a rescue mission to save Maggie’s son, Hershel (Logan Kim). Its first season has already aired, and a second season is scheduled to premiere on AMC in 2025.

Also premiering on January 13, 2025, is The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live. This six-part limited series features a much-anticipated reunion between Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Dania Gurira), a couple separated for years. The story includes their children, Judith and RJ, reuniting with them as they face the formidable CRM (Civic Republic Military).
