Ann Coulter was already known for her media presence, but she made headlines in August 2024 after posting — then deleting — a controversial tweet about Tim Walz‘s son, Gus. Although she removed her statement from X (formerly known as Twitter), the damage was already done, and countless social media users slammed her for the callous remark.

In addition to making television appearances, Ann also contributes to Universal Press Syndicate as a columnist. She got her start in criticizing Bill Clinton‘s campaign in the 1990s.

Throughout her career, Ann has published 12 books so far. Some of them appeared on The New York Times’ Best Seller list, including High Crimes and Misdemeanors: The Case Against Bill Clinton.

As a member of the conservative and libertarian group known as the Federalist Society, Ann is known for her advocacy when it comes to federalism and textualism.

Ann was asked to speak in front of more than 100 students at Missouri State University, where she told the audience that she would surrender her right to vote “in a heartbeat.”

“Yeah, I’d give up my vote in a heartbeat as long as the rest of you stop voting,” she said, according to the Springfield News-Leader. “Women see the government as their husbands. I mean when you look at the Democrats getting in there and spending $4 trillion … wherever women are given the vote in whatever state, in whatever country you see spending going through the roof.”

Ann was doubling down on the same sentiment that she had made in 2007, according to the New York Observer.

“If we took away women’s right to vote, we’d never have to worry about another Democrat president,” she said at the time.

Tim Walz’s son, Gus, appeared at the 2024 Democratic National Convention, where he was seen tearfully supporting his father. As videos of Gus crying made the rounds online, Ann shared a headline via X about him, writing, “Talk about weird.”

Although she deleted the tweet, numerous X users blasted her for the crude remark considering that Tim’s teenage son lives with a non-verbal learning disorder, ADHD and an anxiety disorder.
