Who Is Jack Lowden, Husband of Saoirse Ronan?
Congratulations are in order for Saoirse Ronan and Jack Lowden, who officially tied the knot on July 20, 2024! The pair reportedly had an intimate ceremony at Edinburgh’s Registrar’s Office in front of a small group of family and friends six years after meeting. 🥺❤️
While we’re obviously obsessed with Saoirse thanks to her roles in all our favorite films (looking @ you Little Women, Lady Bird, and The Grand Budapest Hotel), we’re definitely intrigued by her new husband (!!!), Jack.
The couple is said to have first crossed paths in 2018 on the set of their film, Mary Queen of Scots. And in case ya didn’t know, Saoirse starred in the project alongside Margot Robbie as Mary Stuart, with Jack playing her husband Henry Darnley.
Relationship rumors began that December when the two were spotted at an afterparty for Mary Queen of Scots, according to Page Six. “We don’t know when they got together, we only found out on Tuesday night when they rolled up together, but they seem very happy and sweet,” a source told the publication at the time.
The fellow actor was born in Chelmsford, Essex, but grew up in the Scottish village of Oxton. So, yes, he’s Scottish!
Jack is 34 years old and was born on June 2, 1990. Saoirse, meanwhile, is 30, as she was born on April 12, 1994. The more ya know!
Apart from Mary Queen of Scots, you’ll probably recognize Jack from his roles in Dunkirk, Slow Horses, The Gold, and the TV adaptation of David Copperfield. He’s also had enormous success on stage in leading roles, such as when he portrayed Oswald in Henrik Ibsen’s play Ghosts.
Oh, and P.S. Jack plays River Cartwright in the series Slow Horses and recently received his first Emmy nomination for his guest-starring role in season four.
The couple first sparked engagement rumors in October 2023, when Saoirse was seen wearing a beautiful ring on that finger while accompanied by Jack and their dog, Fran.
He reportedly got down on one knee during a hiking holiday in Perthshire that July, and also sent fans wild when he shared a since-deleted picture on Instagram where fans could get a glimpse of his now-wife’s hand bearing a diamond ring. 💍
The duo is incredibly private about their relationship in interviews, and both actors have refused to answer questions about each other. However, Jack *has* shared some small insights into their relationship on social media—and it’s fair to say fans have lapped them up.
Recent posts include a cute snap of the couple at the 2024 Glastonbury Festival, as well as a pic of Saorise on a trip to Seoul and a mirror selfie on New Year’s Eve.
Though Jack and Saoirse haven’t worked together since Mary Queen Of Scots (the project that caused them to meet in 2018), they currently have something exciting in the pipeline.
The actors both serve as producers on The Outrun, a film based on the book of the same name, which follows a woman who returns to Orkney to escape the intoxicating life she created in London. Saoirse also stars in the lead role, opposite Paapa Essiedu from I May Destroy You.
Clearly, the couple that works together, stays together!
