Who Was the Sith Lord in the Cave?

“The Acolyte” concludes with numerous unresolved questions, making the idea of a second season almost essential, despite its lack of confirmation. The potential introduction of Darth Plagueis seems to call for more exploration of this particular era in the “Star Wars” universe. Yoda’s famous words, “Always two there are, no more, no less. A master and an apprentice,” resonate deeply as Osha, played by Amandla Stenberg, treads the path towards the dark side. This development suggests that three figures are now key players, hinting that Plagueis might have influenced Mae and Osha’s journey.

Darth Plagueis is known for his ability to manipulate midi-chlorians to create life. “The Acolyte” reveals that Osha and Mae were born from a vergeance, sharing parts of the same soul. Given Plagueis’ obsession with life and death, it seems plausible that he was involved in their creation. There’s a “Star Wars” theory suggesting Anakin Skywalker may have two fathers—Plagueis and Palpatine/Darth Sidious. Osha and Mae could have been an earlier experiment that didn’t entirely meet Plagueis’ expectations.

With Plagueis operating behind the scenes, the future of the dark side trio is uncertain. If Qimir is indeed Darth Tenebrous, Plagueis might soon eliminate his master, mirroring events from “Star Wars Legends,” which, though no longer canon, could still be adapted. Alternatively, Qimir might be another character, possibly an apprentice Plagueis plans to dethrone in favor of Osha. These possibilities fuel anticipation for a potential second season of “The Acolyte,” as viewers hope to see more of Plagueis in a live-action format.
