Why Cindy Crawford Once Blamed Age Gap With Richard Gere for Their Split

Cindy Crawford recently opened up about her brief marriage to Richard Gere in Apple TV+’s 2023 docuseries “The Super Models,” where she also served as an executive producer. Reflecting on their relationship, the supermodel revealed that she initially tried to find common ground with the popular rom-com star, despite their significant age difference. In her own words, Crawford explained, “You’re willing to kind of mold yourself around whoever you are in love with.” Unfortunately, this led to her spending less time on her personal interests, including her burgeoning fashion career.

The couple got married in Las Vegas in 1991, but their union only lasted four years. During a 2016 appearance on the “WTF with Marc Maron” podcast, Crawford shared that one major issue in their relationship was the lack of a solid friendship foundation before they got married. Given that she was 17 years younger than the “Runaway Bride” star, they didn’t start on equal footing. Crawford candidly admitted, “As I started kind of growing up and growing into myself — it’s hard to change the nature of a relationship once you’re already in it.”

In contrast, Crawford described her relationship with her current husband, Rande Gerber, as more relaxed from the outset. According to her, both of them were genuine from the beginning, creating a sense of mutual respect that has endured over the years.
