Why Fans Think Zach Bryan Ditched Noah Kahan’s Fenway Show: The Rumor Explained

Noah Kahan just concluded an impressive tour with two memorable concerts, particularly special for a New England native like him. The “Orange Juice” singer, 27, performed at Boston’s Fenway Park on Thursday, July 18, and Friday, July 19, marking the end of his We’ll All Be Here Forever tour. However, fans are speculating about a special guest who was expected but did not show up, leading many to believe that the absent performer was Zach Bryan, 28.

Despite the differences in their musical styles, there is a notable camaraderie between Noah and Zach. Zach has covered Noah’s hit “Stick Season,” while Noah featured on Zach’s song “Sarah’s Place” from his Boys of Faith EP released in late 2023. Following the EP’s release, Noah tweeted his appreciation to the country star, expressing how honored he felt to be part of Zach’s musical journey. “Beyond honored you thought of me, friend. The record is so great. Your writing represents everything I’ve always loved about music. I’m beyond grateful to play any part of your story, brother,” Noah wrote.

During Thursday evening’s show, Noah welcomed several guest performers. Gracie Abrams joined him on stage to perform “Everywhere, Everything.” The Lumineers came out to cover Jason Isbell’s poignant ballad “If We Were Vampires” and later returned to perform “Stick Season” with Noah. Openers James Bay and Mt. Joy also joined in the final performance.

On Friday, Mt. Joy’s singer Matt Quinn appeared to perform “Northern Attitude” with Noah. Before beginning the encore, Noah hinted at a planned guest appearance that unfortunately did not materialize. “I’m gonna be honest with you, we were supposed to have a special guest tonight but it didn’t work out,” he shared with the audience.

While Noah did not disclose the identity of the expected guest, some fans speculated that it might have been Zach Bryan. A clue came from a fan account that shared a screenshot of Zach’s girlfriend, Brianna LaPaglia’s Instagram Story, showing she was at Fenway Park for Noah’s concert.

After the show, a blind item surfaced, describing a “country star” who got “so drunk” at his friend’s “biggest show” that he had to back out of a planned guest appearance. The blind item did not name anyone directly, but it quickly made rounds in Zach and Noah’s fan communities. The item stated, “This country star was supposed to guest at his friend’s biggest show ever but ended up getting so drunk leading up to it he had to back out. On top of that, he was seen arguing with security at the venue and being generally disrespectful towards his friend’s family. It’s no surprise he and the other star no longer follow each other on socials.”

A check of both singers’ Instagram accounts reveals that they indeed no longer follow each other, though neither Noah nor Zach has spoken publicly about the rumor.
