Why Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky Aren’t Rushing to Divorce

Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky are in the process of determining how to move forward in their lives after being married for 27 years. The couple has a lot to figure out before finalizing any decisions about ending their marriage. According to a source, they are offering each other “as much love, space, and respect as possible” to discover what works best for them individually.

The source added that the duo is “working on establishing their individual lives while remaining connected as a family.” After decades of routine, Richards and Umansky are learning to navigate their new normal. This separation has been challenging, and no one is in a hurry to proceed with a divorce.

This isn’t the first time the couple has had to address rumors about their relationship. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star and the real estate broker clarified rumors about a potential divorce last year.

In a joint social media statement in July, Umansky and Richards said, “Any claims regarding us divorcing are untrue. However, yes, we have had a rough year. The most challenging one of our marriage. But we both love and respect each other tremendously. There has been no wrongdoing on anyone’s part. Although we are in the public eye, we ask to be able to work through our issues privately.”

The couple shares daughters Alexia, 27, Sophia, 24, and Portia, 16. Additionally, Richards shares her oldest daughter Farrah Brittany with her first husband, Guraish Aldjufrie.

Last season on Umansky’s show Buying Beverly Hills, they sat down with their daughters once the news of their separation became public.

Umansky explained to People that they had a “choice” about discussing their separation on the reality show, but he admitted it “would’ve been awkward on television” not to address it.

“The reality is that we are going through our issues after being married for 28, 29 years. We did it and we chose to put it on camera, and it was great. Now, the audience gets to see the way that we interact with each other,” he said.

In May, a source told Us Weekly that Richards and Umansky no longer live together in their Beverly Hills mansion.

“Kyle and Mauricio have been living separately for the last few months and he’s been staying there,” a source told the publication. “They’ve both been traveling a lot recently, so it’s working out where they don’t stay under one roof.”

During part three of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season 13 reunion, Richards mentioned that Umansky would be moving out.

“He’s looking for a place to move out,” Richards confirmed on the reunion.

“I let him stay in the primary bedroom because it’s very, like, masculine, and the upstairs floor is like the glam area,” she said. “So I was like, ‘You know what, what am I gonna do? Put him in a little room with flowers and, you know, pink and velvet?’ No.”

Buying Beverly Hills is currently streaming on Netflix.
