Princess Eugenie finds herself in the middle of the ongoing royal conflict between Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, and William, Prince of Wales. As she strives to maintain a diplomatic stance, she’s made efforts to bridge the gap between factions. Eugenie has notably visited the Sussexes in California, being the only family member to do so. Simultaneously, in May 2024, she joined her sister, Princess Beatrice, to assist William in hosting a garden party in the absence of King Charles III and Catherine, Princess of Wales, who were undergoing cancer treatment at the time.

However, questions linger on whether Eugenie and Beatrice’s actions are driven by genuine delight or sheer duty. According to Express, the sisters reportedly harbor resentment towards Charles and William’s treatment of their father, Prince Andrew, Duke of York. They are apparently advocating for their father’s return to public duties, a request the king firmly opposes. Furthermore, both Charles and William are committed to keeping the monarchy “slimmed down,” which effectively excludes Andrew’s daughters from official public roles. Royal expert Neil Sean reported, “According to very good sources, Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice are seemingly struggling to remain cordial with Prince William, Catherine, and Charles.”

This strain may extend to their interactions with the broader royal family. At the Royal Ascot lawn party, an observer noted on social media platform X: “Eugenie’s resentment of Catherine was apparent from the very beginning. … Eugenie cannot be trusted.” Another commenter mentioned Kate Middleton’s mother, Carole, stating, “I don’t think she’s going to get anything from Carole Middleton. If she does, it will be to test Eugenie to see if she leaks the information and it comes out in the media.”
