Why Teresa Giudice and Luis Ruelas Waited Four Months to Have Sex

Teresa Giudice and Luis “Louie” Ruelas are reminiscing about their journey as they celebrate a significant milestone in their relationship. During the August 6 episode of Giudice’s “Turning The Tables” podcast, the couple marked their two-year wedding anniversary and took a look back at the early stages of their romance.

The “Real Housewives of New Jersey” star, 52, and the businessman, 49, revealed that they chose to delay getting intimate for several months after they started dating. Focusing on their connection rather than rushing into physical intimacy was important to them. “When you and I first met, we spent a lot of time bonding, and we didn’t get right into sex right away,” said Ruelas. “We waited a long time, which was so good and healthy for us. People might not know, but we waited probably four or five months before we even rounded second base.”

Though they were eager to be intimate, they prioritized getting to know each other without rushing into sex. Ruelas explained they enjoyed learning about each other, focusing on talking and understanding instead of physical intimacy. He added that this approach was beneficial since both had children and needed time to address family dynamics first. “I really got to understand you, your values, and the principles you learned from your parents that you carried into our new life together,” Ruelas shared.

In the podcast episode, Giudice and Ruelas also mentioned that they decided to refrain from sharing a bed until they purchased a house together. “We moved in probably 11 months or 10 months after we bought the house and started our life here,” Giudice said, with Ruelas adding, “That’s when we started sleeping in the same bed.”

Ruelas expressed how much he looked forward to sharing a bed with Giudice, not just for the sexual aspect but also for the closeness. “I really looked forward to being with you at night and just being close to you,” he said.

The couple first met in 2020 while vacationing separately on the Jersey Shore. They confirmed their relationship in November of that year and got engaged in October 2021. On August 6, 2022, they tied the knot in a lavish ceremony that was filmed for a Bravo special. To celebrate their second anniversary this year, Giudice and Ruelas took a trip to Ibiza.

Their anniversary celebration coincides with the highly anticipated “RHONJ” reunion episode airing on August 11. The special, filmed at Rails Steakhouse in Towaco, N.J., on July 15, is aptly titled “Off The Rails.”

Due to ongoing drama among the cast, the “RHONJ” ladies gathered in two separate rooms to discuss the season 14 fallout, marking a departure from the usual format where Andy Cohen moderates. The reunion will feature the cast reflecting on the dramatic season and individual confessionals that were recorded.

“You’ll see the truth,” Giudice told PEOPLE in July, hinting at what fans can expect from the reunion. “Everything I’ve been saying all along has been the truth. I don’t lie; I’m not fake. I don’t put fake storylines out there. I don’t hurt other people’s families.” She continued, “If you’re a viewer, you’ve been with me a long time and you’ll see that. But other people do that, and they do it for storylines. So I’m ready for the truth to be out there.”

As Giudice and Ruelas continue to celebrate their journey together, their revelations about the early days of their relationship and their approach to intimacy offer a refreshing perspective on building a strong and healthy partnership.
