Will ‘Unexpected’ Return for Season 7?

Has Unexpected been renewed for Season 7 after an open-ended Season 6 finale? There was a lot left unsaid and many fans had no idea it was even the finale. So, what is next for the hit TLC reality series and more so, when will it be returning? Here’s what is known so far.

Season 6 of Unexpected brought back two familiar faces, Lilly Bennett and Jenna Ronan. Lilly was planning her wedding to Lawrence Bishop though he wanted to wait due to the high expenses. Jenna Ronan had moved to Myrtle Beach with her best friend, Dalanie, though they had been estranged due to Aden Albright. Now, they are broken up, so Jenna and Dalanie are reunited but Jenna has a new man, JJ Della. He is not fond of Dalanie, causing a wedge while Jenna has to deal with custody issues involving Luca and Aden.

Newcomers Emalee and Nate have left a bad taste in viewers’ mouths as they feel she is demanding and condescending. Aniyah and Dakwon have a challenging situation. He missed the birth of their son because they found out she had Covid, so her mother stepped in and threw Dakwon out. This was due to Aniyah being a minor but then he shared he wanted to join the military yet anything he wants, she shuts down. Finally, Kayleigh had a two-day labor and eventual C-section but Graham grew tired of having to be a dad for less than a week.

In the end, Lilly and Lawrence got married and Jenna found out she was pregnant. That was how Season 6 of Unexpected ended and fans were not happy. First off, they had no idea the season was over and couldn’t believe it would end that way:

• Hold up they didn’t show any previews for next week. I KNOW the season didn’t just end like that.
• Apparently, there’s no tell-all or plans to make another season, I can’t believe this is the end

Earlier in the season, it was confirmed that there would be no Unexpected tell-all, which angered fans. They wanted updates on the cast as it had been over a year and a half since the season wrapped. Since then, Jenna’s son was born, Emalee and Nate got married, and Kayleigh and Graham appear to have broken up. Aniyah and Dakwon also parted ways but there were no updates at the end of the episode.

The way it played out, it looked like there would be another episode to at least wrap all of the couple’s stories but that won’t happen. As for a renewal, some fans stated that this was the last episode of the series. Jenna Ronan noted that she did not even know if the show was coming back. If it did, she likely would not be part of it. So, it is anybody’s guess if the show will be back.
