Woman Arrested in Alleged Scheme to Defraud Presley Family via Graceland Sale

A woman from Missouri has been arrested in connection with an alleged scheme to deceive the family of Elvis Presley, aiming to defraud them of millions and claimed ownership of Graceland, as announced by the Justice Department.

Lisa Findley, aged 53 and from Kimberling City, is accused of orchestrating a fraudulent plan that involved the sale of the famous estate. Prosecutors allege that Findley falsely asserted that Presley’s daughter had pledged Graceland as collateral for an unpaid loan prior to her passing.

Nicole Argentieri, who heads the criminal division of the Justice Department, stated that the scheme was particularly bold. “As part of the brazen scheme, we allege that the defendant created numerous false documents and sought to extort a settlement from the Presley family,” she said in a statement regarding the arrest.

The allegations indicate that Findley used various deceptive tactics, which included creating a fictitious private lender, forging documents and signatures, and issuing a counterfeit foreclosure notice related to the Graceland estate in Memphis. This was all purportedly done to secure a payout of millions from the Presley family.

Findley faces charges of mail fraud and aggravated identity theft. She is set to make her initial court appearance before the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri. As of now, there is no attorney listed for her in online court records.

The criminal complaint was unsealed on the same day as her arrest and reveals detailed accounts of the alleged fraudulent activities meant to mislead and exploit the Presley family.

This case has caught widespread attention due to Graceland’s historical significance and its connection to one of the most iconic figures in music history. Elvis Presley remains a culturally influential figure, and the estate attracts numerous visitors each year.

As developments unfold regarding this case, many are left wondering about the broader implications for estate fraud and how such cases are prosecuted. The Justice Department’s involvement highlights the seriousness of the allegations and the potential for significant legal repercussions.

The investigation is ongoing, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
