WWE Champ Sid Eudy, aka ‘Sid Vicious,’ Dies at 63

Sid Eudy, widely known by his wrestling personas Sid Justice, Sycho Sid, and Sid Vicious, has passed away at the age of 63, as announced by WWE on Monday.

Eudy made a significant impact in the wrestling world, headlining WrestleMania twice. In 1992, he faced off against Hulk Hogan, and in 1997, he battled The Undertaker. He was a two-time WWE champion and also clinched the WCW’s top title on two occasions.

“He was a man of strength, kindness, and love, and his presence will be greatly missed,” shared Eudy’s son, Gunnar, in a heartfelt statement on social media. Gunnar revealed that Eudy had been battling cancer.

Standing at a billed 6-foot-9 and weighing 317 pounds, Eudy’s imposing presence and unhinged character, combined with his flowing curly blonde hair, made him a memorable figure. He was a member of Ric Flair’s Four Horsemen in WCW and later served as Shawn Michaels’ bodyguard in the then-WWF.

Over the years, Eudy became a staple in numerous memorable WWE storylines. He was the special-guest referee for the SummerSlam ’91 main event between Hogan and The Ultimate Warrior. Additionally, he helped popularize the Powerbomb maneuver, becoming one of the most notable big men to utilize this finisher.

“Known as ‘The Master and Ruler of the World,’ Sid’s reputation as one of the toughest and most thrilling superstars solidified his legacy in WWE, and his influence can still be seen in wrestling rings around the world,” WWE mentioned on its official website.
