‘Yellowstone’ Plans Season 6 with Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser

Taylor Sheridan’s hit series Yellowstone is likely to continue beyond its originally planned conclusion in Season 5. Sources have informed Deadline that discussions are in progress for a potential sixth season of the popular drama, with Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser set to take the lead roles.

Negotiations are still underway, and nothing has been finalized yet. However, the creators are aiming to extend Yellowstone beyond Season 5B, which is expected to mark the end of Kevin Costner’s character, John Dutton. Costner has confirmed he will not appear in the upcoming episodes.

Initially, Season 5B was announced as the final chapter of the series. However, when the teaser trailer for its November 10 premiere was released this June, it did not specifically designate the new episodes as the show’s conclusion.

Simultaneously, Reilly and Hauser have been negotiating new contracts for several months. Originally, it was believed these negotiations were for a Yellowstone spinoff. The franchise’s first contemporary spinoff, The Madison, which features Michelle Pfeiffer, is scheduled to follow Season 5B of the main series.

Yellowstone has captivated audiences by chronicling the lives of the Dutton family, who control the largest contiguous cattle ranch in the United States. The series delves into the constant conflicts faced by the ranch, surrounded by an expanding town, an Indian reservation, and America’s first national park, amidst shifting alliances, unsolved murders, and hard-earned respect.

Reilly portrays Beth Dutton, the daughter of John Dutton (Costner), and former head of acquisitions at Schwartz & Meyer financial firm. Hauser plays Rip Wheeler, the ranch’s jaded foreman. Rip first arrived at the Dutton Ranch as a young boy after killing his stepfather to protect his mother. John Dutton treated him like a son, teaching him to become a cowboy.

The series’ executive producers include Taylor Sheridan, Kevin Costner, John Linson, Art Linson, David C. Glasser, Bob Yari, Stephen Kay, Michael Friedman, Christina Voros, and Keith Cox. The show is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution and airs on the Paramount Network.
