Young Thug Sports Custom Suit Featuring Embroidered Rap Name

Young Thug made a notable appearance in court wearing a custom-made suit embroidered with the definition of his rap moniker.

On Tuesday (Aug. 6), Young Thug attended another session of his ongoing YSL Trial. This time, he wore a fitted black and white suit with a special message embroidered in purple along the right side.

A closer look revealed that the embroidery reads, “Truly Humble Under God,” which Young Thug’s lawyer Brian Steel indicated early on in the trial as the acronym for Young Thug’s rap name.

Back in November of 2023, during the second day of the YSL Trial, Steele aimed to present Young Thug in a positive light. In his opening statement, he emphasized that Young Thug is a God-fearing man dedicated to helping the community. He also assigned positive meanings to names associated with the rapper. According to Steele, YSL stands for Young Successful Life, and Thug represents Truly Humble Under God. He added that “Pushin P,” the title of a 2022 track by Gunna featuring Young Thug and Future, means Pushing Positivity.

Young Thug’s lawyer further argued that the rapper’s song lyrics should be seen as circumstantial evidence. He described Young Thug as an actor who merely depicts illegal activities in his songs without participating in them. Despite Steel’s arguments, the State continues to use lyrics from 17 songs featuring Young Thug and his co-defendants as evidence in the trial.

Young Thug has been incarcerated since May 9, 2022, following a 56-count indictment. The charges accuse him, Gunna, and over two dozen other YSL affiliates of violating the RICO act. In July, another challenge emerged in his trial when his newly appointed judge denied Young Thug’s motion for bond and house arrest.

A report from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution on July 30 disclosed that Judge Paige Reece Whitaker ordered Young Thug and his five co-defendants to remain in jail. She not only denied their bond requests but also stated she would not reconsider granting bond. Therefore, Young Thug will continue to be jailed without the option for house arrest.

The request for house arrest was made after Judge Ural Glanville recused himself. His recusal followed a secret meeting on June 10 between him, the prosecution, and a key witness named Kenneth “Lil Woody” Copeland.
