Zac Efron Updates Fans After Hospitalization from Swimming Incident

Zac Efron has recently spoken out after reportedly being hospitalized following a pool incident in Ibiza.

The “Ricky Stanicky” star was taken to the hospital after a “minor swimming incident” on Friday evening, 2 August, as reported by TMZ. His representative described the hospital visit as a “precautionary measure,” and the 36-year-old actor has since been released and is recovering well.

Details regarding the exact cause of the incident were not provided.

Efron took to Instagram to share a photo of himself working out, captioned, “Happy and healthy – thanks for the well wishes.”

The actor has previously talked about his need to “disconnect” through nature to recuperate after months of filming, aiming to rediscover his “true self.”

“When filming is done, I need to disconnect. Be out in nature and let the character drift out of me and I then find my true self again,” Efron told The Rake magazine. “The best place for me to do that if not in nature is to be somewhere new. I think you need to re-engage with who you are before you head back and try to be with your friends and family.”

He also spoke about his appreciation for the opportunity to travel and experience new cultures, calling it one of the “biggest blessings” in his life.

“At the beginning, it was really just for press, being called across to Japan for ‘Hairspray,’ and I got to see Japanese culture and I was really taken with that,” he explained. Efron’s curiosity grew over time, and when he’s not working, he often travels to explore “something new.”
