Zak Williams Honors Father Robin on 10th Anniversary of Comedy Icon’s Death

Robin Williams’ son, Zak, is honoring his father, marking a decade since the beloved actor and comedian’s passing. Zak, 41, turned to Instagram on Sunday, August 11, to share a nostalgic photo of his late dad portraying Mork from the iconic show “Mork & Mindy.” Accompanying the image, he penned a heartfelt caption reflecting on Robin’s boundless love for those around him.

“Dad, it’s hard to believe it’s been 10 years,” Zak shared in the caption. “Today, I’m reflecting on the immense love you shared with all of us – your family, your friends, and everyone you met.” He further wrote, “You continue to inspire me every single day to do whatever I can to help create a more connected and loving world for our family.” He ended with a touching note, “Love you forever.”

The Oscar-winning actor and comedian died by suicide on August 11, 2014, at the age of 63. Robin’s death followed a prolonged battle with anxiety and depression, and a diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease. His autopsy also revealed that he had been suffering from Lewy Body Dementia.

The “Good Will Hunting” star had three children. Eldest son Zak and daughter Zelda, 34, were shared with his first wife, Valerie Velardi. Robin’s youngest child, Cody, 32, was from his second marriage to Marsha Garces, which ended in 2008 after nearly a decade. Later, Williams married Susan Schneider Williams in 2011.

Additionally, on July 21, Zak took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a message on what would have been his father’s 73rd birthday. “Dad, on what would be your 73rd birthday, I remember you for all the hope and joy you brought to the world,” Zak wrote. “There’s not a week that goes by without someone sharing with me how you helped them through a dark time or a rough patch. I’m so grateful to be your son. Love you forever.”
