2024 Kids’ Choice Awards: Barbie, Swift & Rodrigo Shine with Multiple Wins

Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, and the film “Barbie” were the big winners at the 2024 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, held on July 13th at UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion.

“Barbie” took home several prestigious accolades, including favorite movie. Margot Robbie, who played Barbie, won favorite movie actress, while Billie Eilish’s song “What Was I Made For?” from the movie’s soundtrack scooped up favorite song. The track “Barbie World” by Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice, featuring Aqua, earned the award for favorite music collaboration.

Taylor Swift was a triple winner, clinching favorite female artist for the third time, as well as favorite global music star for the third time. Additionally, her highly acclaimed The Eras Tour was honored with the title of favorite ticket of the year. Travis Kelce, Swift’s boyfriend, was named favorite male sports star.

Olivia Rodrigo’s album “GUTS” emerged victorious in the favorite album category, surpassing other notable releases, including Swift’s “The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology.” Rodrigo also won favorite female TV star (kids) for her portrayal of Nini in “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.”

Post Malone, known for his collaboration with Swift on the chart-topping “Fortnight,” won his first favorite male artist award. Imagine Dragons took home their first favorite music group trophy. Newcomer Reneé Rapp was declared favorite breakout artist.

Considered a historic win, Billie Eilish grabbed her third favorite song trophy with “What Was I Made For?” previously winning for “Bad Guy” and “Happier Than Ever.” This achievement ties her with Harry Styles for the most victories in the category.

Sabrina Carpenter’s viral hit “Espresso” was named favorite viral song, and Bella Poarch was honored as the favorite social music star.

The night’s festivities were animated by SpongeBob SquarePants and Patrick Star, with the show’s setting replicating Bikini Bottom. Unsurprisingly, “SpongeBob SquarePants” won favorite cartoon, marking its 25-year milestone since its debut on Nickelodeon in 1999.

The event was simulcast live on the east coast, with a tape delay for the west coast, airing across Nickelodeon networks, including TeenNick, Nicktoons, and the Nick Jr. channel, as well as TV Land, CMT, and MTV2.

Memorable highlights of the show included an energetic opening dance number featuring Paul Russell performing “Lil Boo Thang,” and a medley by The Kid LAROI, who performed “Nights Like This,” his single “Girls,” and his chart-topping “Stay.” Serena Williams received the Legend Gold Blimp, presented by Kelly Rowland.

Another unforgettable moment presented by the halftime show involved Jelly Roll, Heidi Klum, and a marching band. The favorite villain title went to none other than Jack Black, who appeared in character as Bowser.

For those who missed the live broadcast, the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards 2024 will encore on Sunday, July 14, at 10:30 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Nickelodeon, as well as at 9 a.m. on Nicktoons, and Monday, July 15, at 9 p.m. on TeenNick.
