4 ISIS Leaders Killed in Raid; 7 US Service Members Injured

Last month, a significant military operation carried out by U.S. and Iraqi forces resulted in the deaths of four senior ISIS leaders in western Iraq. Among those killed was the group’s primary operations leader in Iraq, as well as its chief bombmaker, for whom the United States had previously issued a $5 million bounty.

Additionally, the operation also led to the deaths of Abu-‘Ali al-Tunisi, who was in charge of technical advancements for ISIS, and Shakir Abud Ahmad al-Issawi, responsible for military operations across western Iraq.

Al-Tunisi had been specifically noted in intelligence reports and on the Rewards for Justice website for his crucial role in the manufacturing capabilities of ISIS in Iraq. He was reported to have provided training to ISIS recruits in various areas, including the creation of explosive devices, suicide vests, and improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

In previous statements, CENTCOM indicated that some ISIS members involved in the raid were equipped with grenades and were wearing suicide vests at the time of the encounter. This highlights not only the risks faced by the U.S. and Iraqi forces during the operation but also the serious threat posed by these ISIS leaders.
