A+E Networks Lays Off Employees at Lifetime, A&E, and History Channels

A+E Networks underwent a round of staff cuts on Tuesday, affecting every division including programming, marketing, and public relations at outlets like Lifetime, A&E, and History. As part of these layoffs, Lifetime senior VP of unscripted development and programming Amy Savitsky has departed the company, as confirmed by Variety.

“We thank our employees who are departing for their enormous contributions to our company,” an A+E Networks spokesperson stated. However, the company did not disclose the exact number of staff affected by the cuts.

These layoffs at A+E are part of a broader industry trend, especially in the cable sector. On the same day, Paramount Global also announced plans to lay off around 15% of its U.S.-based workforce, including the shutdown of its Paramount TV Studios division.

Other significant executives departing from A+E include Lifetime vice presidents Kim Chessler and Cat Rodriguez, History unscripted programming VP Zach Behr, and A+E programming VP Peter Tarshis, who had been with the company for 31 years and contributed as an executive producer on its signature “Biography” series.

Amy Savitsky assumed her latest role in 2022. Before that, she was senior vice president of development and programming for History, overseeing the channel’s development and executive producing series like “The Proof Is Out There” and “The Bermuda Triangle: Into Cursed Waters.” Earlier, she held the same position at A&E and supervised acclaimed series including “Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath” and “Kids Behind Bars: Life or Parole.”

Kim Chessler had been with Lifetime since 2010, while Cat Rodriguez joined in 2019. Zach Behr became part of the company in 2011.

The news about the A+E Networks layoffs was initially reported by Deadline.
